Living donor follow-up form changes will affect future data submission policy requirements

Living donor follow-up form changes will affect future data submission policy requirements

As part of the OMB form changes that took effect on March 31, 2015, three new fields were added to the living donor follow-up (LDF) forms in TIEDI®.

  • Loss of medical (health, life) insurance due to donation (kidney and liver LDF)
  • Incisional hernia due to donation (liver LDF)
  • Platelet count (liver LDF)

Living donor recovery hospitals must complete these fields for all living kidney and liver donors who donate on or after March 31, 2015, beginning with the 6-month LDF. The new fields will also be included in the calculation of follow-up thresholds in OPTN Policy 18 – Data Submission Requirements (18.5.A and B) for donors who donate on or after March 31, 2015.

We wanted to call your attention to these changes in the form so that you can prepare to collect this additional information from your living donors. Again, these new fields apply to living donors who donate on or after March 31, 2015, beginning with the 6-month LDF.

Living donor recovery hospitals are encouraged to report data in these new fields on future LDFs for living donors who donated before March 31, 2015. Reporting “unknown” in these fields for donors who donated before March 31, 2015 will not negatively impact your hospital’s follow-up thresholds.

Please note that on April 29, 2015, we made an additional change to the LDF loss of insurance field, to add UNK (unknown) as an option.

  • YES
  • NO
  • UNK
